CHRIST'S COLLEGE MATCH. BRIGHT DISPLAY BY BOYS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday The New Zealand representative cricket team played a match to-day with the Christ's College first eleven. The wicket was drying after the heavy rain and was, therefore, in the bowlers' favour. The college boys gave an exhilarating display. G. Roberts and F. Lumsden batted brightly and R. J. Bean bowled excellently. Keeping a very good length she took "six wickets for 50 runs. At one stage three New Zealand wickets were down for 18 runs. Christ's College batted first and was all out for 135 (Lumsden 27, Roberts 38, .Murray 15). New Zealand declared at nine wickets for 190 (Blunt 46, Dempster 54). College went in again and when stumps were drawn had lost six wickets for 48 runs. CAPTAIN OF THE REST. APPOINTMENT OF R. REED. [I!Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday R. Reed has been appointed captain of The Rest to play the Now Zealand cricket team to-morrow. This decision was announced by Mr. I). Reese, chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council this afternoon.
