SEAMAN'S THEFT.
SUIT OF CLOTHES STOLEN
The theft of a suit of clothes was denied by William Blackwood Leeds, aged 28, seaman, in the Police Court yesterday. Police, statements were to the effect that Richard A. Sanderson, a painter, had luing his clothes up in the ship on which ho was engaged in working on lliursday and that wiien lie went to get them at five o'clock he discovered they had been taken. Eventually they were found in tho possession of accused, who had been paid off the ship. " I packed my mate's suitcase and put that suit in by mistake." accused said in defence. Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., held accused guilty and fined him £5.
