STRUCK BY GOLF BALL.
ACCIDENT ON LINKS. ♦ - A PLAYER UNCONSCIOUS. RECOVERY AFTER TEN MINUTES. [BX TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Tuesday, A curious incident happened on the Hokowhitu golf links during the weekend. A member of the Wairarapa Club was playing with a local member, and when* he was driving from the 14th tee he was struck on the throat by a hardhit ball that had been pulled considerably by a player going to the 13th tee. Fortunately the ball ricocheted from the ground, but even so the player was rendered unconscious and remained so for about 10 minutes. The players near him were puzzled by his collapse, but the person who had unwittingly caused it noticed what had happened and hurried forward to attend to the injured man. Excellent golf had been played by the injured man prior to tn° accident, but after it he rather surprised the other players by completing his round in good form, his score being 75. At the conclusion of the game he was a trifle shaky, but no serious consequences were manifest.
