OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
HAMILTON HOUSE INVOLVED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Sunday A fire broke out in a bedroom of a house occupied bv Mr. John Prickett, Hamilton East, last evening. The fire brigade was summoned, but Mr. Prickett was able to suppress the outbreak himself. The fire was caused through a candle upsetting and coming into contact with the bedding. The room was damaged to some extent, and Mr. Priekett's arms were burned, although not seriously. DAMAGE TO WASH-HOUSE. MOUNT EDEN RESIDENT'S LOSS. A detached wash-house at the home of Mrs. M. Lucas, 39, King Edward Street, Mount Eden, was badly damaged by fire on Saturday afternoon. A quantity of clothes had been placed in the washhouse. and the family had gone into the house for lunch. When they came out the wash-house was in flames. The Mount Eden Fire Brigade was called, but the flames had practically demolished the interior of the wash-house before the firemen arrived. A large amount of clothing was destroyed. There was no insurance on the building.
