"For the service of mankind" is the motto of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of which the St. John Ambulance Association 15 a department. The St. John District Nurses visit the sick poor in their own homes and do everything that is possible to restore them to health or alleviate their sufferings. When anyone is seriously ill or meets with an accident and requires to be taken to the hospital or his home, all that is requisite is to ring 41-233, stating the locality, the nature of the illness or accident ana whether a doctor is in attendance or is required, a St. John Transport Officer will be immediately dispatched in an up-to-date Motor Ambulance, provided with the latest appliances to secure the comfort of the patient. In order to maintain the District Nursing and Ambulance Transport Services and to procure another motor ambulance, which is urgently needed, the sum of £2OOO is required. Donations will be thankfully received by the honorary secretary, at the Ambulance Station, Rutland Street, 01 in the boxes at the street collection on Friday, November 4.
