BASIC WAGE RATES.

NEW AUSTRALIAN SCALE. INCREASES AND DECREASES. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Oct. 27. Under the new basic wage, which comes into operatiou on November 1 the rates of pay will be increased in all the States except Wester'. Australia and Tasmania, In Sydney tne rate will be 14s 7d a day and £4 10s 6d a week, an increase of one shilling a week. In Melbourne the rate will be 14s 6d a day, £4 10s a week, an increase of three shillings. The rate in Brisbane is increased by one shilling, and in Adelaide by two shillings. In Perth there is a decrease of one shilling, and in Hobart a decrease of sixpence.
