A railway accident occurred in Yugoslavia to-day. A goods train bound from Sarajevo to Mostar, 47 miles south of the former city, was crossing a steel bridge spanning a precipitous ravine when it crashed through the structure and fell to the earth far below. A sensational story was at first in circulation to the effect that the accident had happened to a passenger train and that 260 lives had been lost. Later this was denied, and it transpired that two members of the train crew were killed and one was injured.
