CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.

WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST AT TAIHAPE. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAIHAPE, Thursday. The Wellington provincial clay pigeon shooting championship was held at Taihape to-day, and resulted in a win for H. A. Quartercnan (Taihape), who shot tho possible, 21 birds J. Ormond (Taihape). J. Beard (Kimbolton) and C. E. Brown (Palmerston North), were runners-up. with 20 each. Detailed scores are:—Quarterman (Taihape), 21 birds; J. Ormond (Taihape), J. Beard (Kimbolton) and C. E. Brown (Palmerston North), 20; J. Duncan (Taihape), 19 D. McLachlan (Masterton), H. Belk (Taihape), J. Whittle (Taihape). 16; K. Ineley (Masterton), H. Hore, 15; C. Role (Marton), 14; G. Belk (Taihapeh 13. A Dobson (Auckland). E. Groome (Otane). and T. Parker (Napier) participated in the shoot, and although not eligible for championship honours they were able to compete for the prize money attached to the championship. Groome shot tlio possible and divided £23 with Quarterman, Dobson secured 20 birds, and Parker 19. _ In addition to the prize money Quarterman received a gold medal for winning the championship.
