THE NEXT CHAMPIONSHIPS. DECISION OF ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] WELLINGTON, Thursday The New Zealand Rowing Association's annual meeting was held this evening. Officers elected were:—President, Major H. A. Lomax (Wanganui); vice-presidents, Messrs. A. J. Maclaine (Marlborough) and H. Ayres (Canterbury) ; council, Messrs. E. S. Innes, D. R. Menzies, B. A. Marris, C. F. Turner, R. D. Duncan, E. Diehl, G. Lauchlan and H. Paton; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. D. Bayfield; auditor, Mr. G. C. Fache.
It was decided to hold the New Zealand championships in Wanganui this season. New South Wales is to be invited to send an eight-oar crew to the meeting, the New Zealand Association to bear all expenses while the crew is in New Zealand. A motion to centralise regattas was lost by 11 w>tes to 3. A motion to declare a junior oarsman one who had never won any senior rowing race and had not won a junior rowing race prior to October 1 preceding the regatta other than races limited to the members of the club was lost. Considerable discussion took place regarding the locality for rowing the first inter-provincial eight-oared race, whether in Auckland or Wellington. Wanganui withdrew its application. The donor of the challenge cup, who-resides in Auckland, is to be consulted in the matter.
