ATTEMPT TO OPEN SAFE.
THE USE OF DYNAMITE. r BURGLAR'S EFFORTS FAIL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.J CHRISTCEUECH. Wednesday. Dynamite was used when an attempt was made to blow npon a safe on the premises of the Zealandia Milling Company, Hazeldean Road, Addington. in the early hours of Monday morning. The explosion was heard by many in the vicinity, and one man, who was returning at 2.30 a.m. from the fire at Aulsebrook's factory, informed the police. The intruder made oft without securing anything. Wheji the police arrived they found the remains of the doormat, which had been used to deaden the sound of the explosion. Two doors had been forced open. The safe was filled with documents, valuable only to the firm, and tho cash represented a value of less than £l. The explosion shattered, the front lock into many pieces, but the second lock held. The casing of the door was damaged.
