PLEASURE-LAUNCH OWNERS
HARBOUR BOARD CRITICISED. NEED OF ACCOMMODATION. A comparison between the attitude of the Auckland Harbour Board toward the interests of launch owners, and that of the City Council toward other sporting bodies was made by Mr. A. Spencer at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Power-Boat Association last evening, when mention was made of the necessity for finding new quarters for the clubhouse and boatsheds.
"It appears to me that the chairman ot the Harboui Board is not in sympathy with this sport," said Mr. Spencer. You see other sports bodies provided with play ing areas all over the city, while it looks as if we shall have to move from b re very shortly." Mr. E. L> Buchanan protested that it was unfair to make the suggestion, as the association had received a great deal of consideration from the Harbour Board in the past. , The chairman, Mr. C. J. Collings, said the position was certainly unsatisfactory, but a boat harbour was being provided and the work was a little behind. "We are practically under three months" notice to quit the clubhouse, and until St Mary's Bay is dredged, the position will be awkward for all of us." A vote of thanks to the Auckland Harbour Board for its past services in the interests of the association was carried "without prejudice.'!
