It was resolved that application be made to the Local Government Loans Board for approval of the'loan proposal for £BSOO lor enlarging and extending the borough waterworks. A further development in the case in which the council is invoking powers nnder the Town Planning Act to withhold a building permit for additions to a dwelling at the corner of Harris Street I and Queen Street, pending an arrange- | ment for the rounding-off of the corner, was a report by the building inspector that the additions had be*n started without the permit. It was decided to give the owner 48 hours in which either to dismantle the new work or obtain a permit by reinstating his previous offer to dedicate 10ft. off the corner, the council having previously intimated to him that it was willing to accept this offer and to {irovide material for the fence on the new rontage. A month's sick leave was granted the town clerk, Mr. J. F. Deane, who is At present in hospital.
