RACING ABROAD.
AUCKLANDER'S IMPRESSIONS "They have fast trotting horses in the United States, but they have a lot to learn from New Zealand in the handling of their meetings," said Mr. G. C. McMillan, of Auckland, who, with Mrs. McMillan, returned by the Aorangi yesterday from an extended trip abroad. Mr. McMillan said he went to a trotting meeting at Indianopolis, and while impressed with the speed of the horses ho did not like their methods of starting and management generally. "The Americans appear to take very little interest in trotting." he added. "I made inquiries in New 'York, but no one appeared to know anything about the sport there. The main sporting interest is baseball." Both Mr. and Mrs. McMillan retain happy memories of race meetings attended in England, where they pained a most favourable impression of the sport.
