ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK.
Animal Welfare Week will bo observed throughout New Zealand this month, the dates being from Monday, October 24, to Sunday, October 30. There will be a special "Animal" page for Saturday, October 29, and "Boys and Girls" will contain stories and articles dealing with our friends the animals. An essay competition on "Our Friends, the Animals," is now open to readers of Boys and Girls from ten to sixteen years of age. Work must be done without help. Langth of essay, not more than 450 words. Two book prizes, one for girls, one for boys. Closing dale, October 22. Readers of "Boys and Girls" are also invited to send in interesting items, arid brief personal experiences, dealing with pets, birds, and animals of any kind. The items need not be original, but must not exceed 100 words. Ten-mark cards for all entries published. Mark cnvelones "Animal Week Contest" and address Miss Morton, Editor " Boys and Girls," N.Z. Herald.
