YACHTING ADVENTURE.
SYDNEY SURGEON'S TRIP. POSSIBLE CALL AT AUCKLAND. [from our own correspondent. ] SYDNEY. Sept. 29. Sydney yachtsmen are preparing a suitable welcome to the well-known surgeon, Sir Alexander MacCormick, who is voyaging homo from England in his new 58-ton yacht Ada, and, though the itinerary has not been published, will probably call at Auckland en route. With him are Mr Neville Dangar, Commander Nash, R.N., and a crew of three. They left Falmouth a week ago, and, coming via Panama, aro expected here well before Christmas. To-day, Sir Alexander's yacht-, The Morna, is at anchor in Sydney Harbour, awaiting his arrival, in the latest importation from Fairlie's yards. This is the greatest voyage of adventure undertaken to date by Sir Alexander, who has made many long cruises, yachting being his principal recreation. Although Sir Alexander knows all the points of the compass, he has not got his deep-sea ticket. This is the only reason why Commander Nash has beeu given charge of the little vessel. The new schooner is not exactly fitted up for luxurious travel, though she is comfortable. There are three sleeping berths, two settees, and quarters for the crew. She is 73ft. iong, with a beam of 15ft,, and draws 9ft. 4in. The Morna, which was also built at the Fairlie yards, has touched every part of the New South Wales coast, but the new schooner is better fitted to weather the tempests of the Australian coast.
