DOMINION RIFLEMEN.

VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY'S WARM WELCOME. [from our own correspondent.] SYDNEY. Sept. 29. The New Zealand riflemen who are to take part in tho King's Prize meeting, to be held at Liverpool, near Sydney, have been warmly welcomed. At a civic reception given in their honour yesterday, Captain W. N. Masefield, who is in charge of the Dominion contingent, issued an invitation to the National Rifle Association of New South Wales to send a team to New Zealand for the a»nual prize meeting, to bo held next May. " We are particularly keen on securing a team from Australia at next year's meeting, and it is with this intention that we put the meeting back to May, in order that we should not be clashing with the Melbourne meeting. We recognise the obstacles in the way of your acceding to our offer, but, nevertheless, we hope that you will see your way clear to send a team." The Lord Mayor, Alderman Mostyn, in welcoming the visitors, said that there was a Jink between New South Wales and New Zealand that was very closely connected. Colonel Hardy, Acting District Base Commandant, exprossed regret that New Zealand marksmen did not visit this State more often. " I would like to see," he said, "more New Zealand rifle teams visiting this State's annual prize meeting. Although tho distance between us is comparatively short, it is seven years siuce the last Dominion team visited New South Wales.'' The position of the New Zealand team regarding the Commonwealth match was referred to by Lieutenant-Colonel Beards more, a member ol the council of the National Rifle Association. " It is not yet decided," he said, " whether the New Zealand team will be able to compete in the Commonwealth match, but if they are not, the council of the National Rifle Association intends to strike new medals, in order to allow the Visitors to taift part in this important fixture."
