NO MAORIS NEED APPLY.
Sir,—"Now Zealander" is disgusted. Would an explanation from an old African relieve his mental tension ? I trust so. In New Zealand you have one small race to deal with, and this being God's Own Country, by all means let brotherly love continue throughout the islands. The African Continent has quite another situation to face. The preponderance of natives there has kept, and will keep, our statesmen thinking hard. Guiding the destinies of so many tribes in such a manner that the prestige of the white people, who are quite in the minority, should not suffer, calls fox great diplomacy. In my opinion the committee has done exactly the right thing to assure a thoroughly warm welcome to those they are sending over. Africa is my adopted country, and I have traversed it from the Belgian Congo to Capetown. So I feel I have earned the privilege of explaining to "New Zealander" the position. Rhodesia. E. A. Huxford.
