Headlatn, Tasmania, looked to have the title in safe keeping at the seventh fairway, bull their ball was stolen by a boy who had boon iu hiding among a clump of trees. Russell and Htadlam went back and played another ball, but the hole took them seven and, incidentally, cost them the championship. It was then found that the pair had tied with I. Whittou (Victoria) and S*. Winser (South Australia), with 163 each for the morning and afternoon round*. A play-off was then necessary, Russell an*!t Headlam were off their games, whereat-.
