THE AIRSHIP MISSION.
DEPARTURE FOR SYDNEY* SEARCH FOR BASE SITES. The Imperial Airship Mission has made its report to the New Zealand Government upon the choice of mooring-tower sites and other matters bearing upon the extension of Empire commercial airship services to the Dominion. The leader of the mission, Group-Captain P. F. M. Fellowes said yesterday before his departure for Sydney by the Marama, that the Government had already made a tentative reply to the report. Whether New Zealand came into the scheme, of course, depended on the Commonwealth Government's decision, which had not yet been made.
Captain Fellowes, who is accompanied by Flight-Lieutenant S. Nixon and Mrs. Fellowes will bo joined in Sydney by Mr. M. A. Giblett, the meteorologist of the mission, who has already gone to Australia. Before leaving Sydney for India about the end of this month, Captain Fellowes will revisit Melbourne and possibly also Canberra. The mission is to inspect the proposed airship bases in the East, and should reach England later in the year.
With Major T. M. Wilkes, director of New Zealand air services, the party spent several very enjoyable days at Wairakei and Rotorua, reaching Auckland yesterday in time .to join the Sydney steamer. * . » , -"
