T.. AN EXTREMELY ECONOMICAL INVESTMENT. Convincing Testimony from an Auckland Firm. • MESSRS. SEABROOK, FOWLDS & CO., August 15. 19J7. Symonds Street* Auckland, N.Z. * Dear Sirs, . With reference to the Austin 7 which we purchased from you some time back, I would here like to state that she is proving more than satisfactory, and has, on more than one instance, shown her superiority over a heavier machine. f As you are aware, our car is used for town and country travelling and at no time has "she given us the slightest trouble. <£alto Tf«ent.y one of our salesmen and myself undertook a trip round the North Island, doing approximately 1500 miles on the trip. In addition to t!two passengers, we carried about 1201b. weight in samples, bags, etc., yet even with this weight aboard we averaged over 45 miles ta the gallon o. The route taken was via Te Kuiti, New Plymouth. Wellington. Masterton. Napier. Ta.upo, Rotorua, and through Cambridge to Auckland. Through the entire trip we had the elements against us. in that we encountered rain and wind on practically every day of driving. It may interest you to know that we climbed Mt. Messenger, the Paekakariki Hills, and the Rimutaka Range between Wellington and Masterton, and did not have to go below second gear, and it was only on the Taupo Hills between Napier and Taupo that we had to drop to low. On the good Taranaki roads we did long stretches at an even 30 ip.p.h.. and tlm« and again we found that, contrary to expee track of the " Baby " was an advantage, in that on the rough roads we could run along the edge of the road where it was smooth, thua •vwdlnis the rough tracks of the standard track car. On two instances we had to ford streams, and, although the water was over the running board, the little car came through without a hitch. At Rotorua'we were informed that the Mamaku Bush Road was impassable, but, as the road via Atiamuri was equally as bad. wo decided to try the Mamaku. I have pleasure in advising that we got through and did the Rotorua-Cambridge run in four hours, being Uie first car through the bush for three days. lam quite satisfied that a heavier car would never heve got through—thus once again proving the Baby a superiority for commercial use I may state thai, when we first purchased the Austin Seven. I was somewhat doubtful as to her performance when bad roads were encountered, but I must admit that lam now more than satisfied, and, in fact, am amazed at the power ana sturdiness embodied in the little car. ofte ,! in fact, convinced me that the Baby Austin is the only car that I would take over the run. For your information, our next trip Uto invercarglil and back, and I am confident that once again " Baby " will come through with flying colours. You have our full consent to use this letter in any way that you may think fit. and should you want it at any time, I will be only too pleased to vouch to anybody for the " Baby's " superiority as a commercial car. ...... Yours faithfully, AUSTRAL AGENCY CO., LTD R. Wylde-Browne, Manager. "EASILY THE BEST SMALL CAF?IN THE WORLD. Prices from £212 eabrook, Fowlds & Coy. 77, Symonds St., Auckland. London St., Hamilton.
