HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

| The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day wa* supplied to us by Mr. H. SI. Vincent last evening:—The general outlook for the weekend indicates cloudy and unsettled weather prevailing. Heavy rain is expected, particularly in districts northward of New Plymouth and Napier. Easterly to north-easterlv winds, strong to gale, ruling in northern areas, and increasing northerlies prevailing in the South Stormy weather is likely in the northern portion of the North Island, later moving down the East Coast, and affecting southera districts in a lesser degree. Heavy seas are indicated, especially in areas northward of Whangarei. Barometric pressure will decrease slowly generally. The disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic influences has intensified considerably since last advice, a cyclonic storm centre having developed midway between Cape Maria and North Cape, moving south-ea.stward. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Present indications are -for easterly gales northwards of Kawhia and East Cape and south-easterly winds increasing elsewhere; weather becoming stormy, with heavy rain in the northern parts of the North Island and cold and unsettled with rain_ following generally, but fair in the West Coast districts of the South Island.
