MONEY STOLEN FROM SAFE.
BANKRUPT'S ALLEGATION.
OPPOSITION TO DISCHARGE. The theft of £2OO from a safe was given as One of the reasons for the failure of George Robert Gulley, tea kiosk proprietor, (Mr. Schramm), whosa creditors met yesterday. ... The schedule showed that £219 was owing to unsecured creditors, the assets comprising stock and cash-in-hand amounting to £216. In a statement, bankrupt said that about Seven years ago ho paid £450 for the business of the Point Erin Tea Kiosk. Shortly afterwards, he borrowed £l5O on the security of the goods. Owing to differences with his wife he gave her a half* interest in the business txvo years ago, and had not been near it since. He made an assignment to creditors a year ago. In reply to the official assignee, Mr. U. N. Morris, bankrupt said that three years ago ho conducted a perambulator business in Karangahnpe Road, but had sin.ee left it. He aamitted drawing £2OO out of th« bank recently, but slated it had been stolen from his safe. The Official Assignee: That is a pretty thin story. On the eve of your bankruptcy you draw the money out of the bank and ifc is stolen. Bankrupt: I know it is a thin story, but it is a true one. 1 was very careless with my money, and have lost sums before that. Exftminrd further, bankrupt said he recently took a trip to Australia, partly for business and partly for health reasons. He took only £l7 away with him. Creditors unanimously decided that bankrupt's discharge should be opposed until he paid 10s in the £. •
