TWO PETITIONS AT HAMILTON
[RV TELEGRAPH—OWN cobhebpondent,] HAMILTON, Friday. Unusual circumstances were revd#J«l when a petition fop divorce was heard in the Hamilton Supreme Court to-day. Harold Walker, butcher, of Rotorua, sought a dissolution of his marring* with Mary Walker. Petitioner said he and his wife were married at Rotoraa in IS£l and there was one child of the mur* riage. lii February, 1925, petitioner and his wife entered into a <i!eed of separation. In April of this year, respondent gave birth to an illegitimate child *t Napier. A birth certificate itnd an «d» mis>ion were submitted in support of this statement. The issue of the marriage bad akj been horn after the separation and petitioner bad not seen the child. A decree nisi was granted, costs being allowed against the co-respondent. A decm< ni*i was granted to Harriet May Sheffield, who sought a divorce from tier husband, William Henry Sheffield, on the grounds of failure to maintain her and desertion. The parties, said petitioner, were married in 1914, and lived at Uotorus. Respondent left for England in 1923. He had £iven her £65, but she had Hot heard from him since. His present whereabouts were unknown. Counsel mentioned that respondent was Communist, and would probably go to Russia. Petitioner Mas given the custody of the on® child of tna marriage.
