TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
QUESTION OF DONATIONS. REQUESTS TO LOCAL BODIES. "I do not approve of this board going cap in hand to local bodies asking for donations." said Mr J. P. McPhail at a meeting of the Board of Managers of the Seddon Memorial Technical College yesterday. Mr. H. S. W. King, chairman, said it was regrettable the local bodies had to be approached, but the object was to see if they realised the Technical College was of any value to the community. Mr. McPhail: We should keep hammering at the Government until we get what the school is entitled to. ' Mr. W. I. Mcintosh: The local bodies contribute to sports Why should not they donate a sum of money for education ? Mr G. J. Park, principal, explained that the intention of the recent circular letter sent to all local authorities was to enable them to place a sum aside in the next year's estimates. Mr Kin? We are not likely to get anything this year. It was decided to annroach tn6 local bodies again in April. 1928.
