AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE DAY OF ACTIVE BUSINESS. General all-round activity was noticeable on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and there were few classes of shares in which some transaction was not recorded. There is a steady demand for Government securities, but not a great many are offering. A sale of Auckland Harbour Board, 1929, per cent., was effected at £96 10s. In banks Australasias sold at £l4 15s, an advance of Is on Tuesday's price. Nationals of Australasia, which sold a month ago at £l7 2s, changed hands at £l7 Is. Business was done in New South Wales at £43, as compared with £43 16s last week. In insurance New Zealands were quoted at the noon call at 39s 6d and 39s 3d. South British were done at 37s 9d, a decline of 3d on recent rates, and sellers continued to offer that figure. In ioan and agency Farmers' Cooperative Auctioneering changed hands at the current rate of 14s lid, Hikurangis were done at 3s id, and Waipas at 15s 9d. In gas Aucklands, ordinary, had sale at 235, and contributing at 17s. In shipping Devonport Ferries sold at 23s 6d, 3d less than last week. In miscellaneous Electrolytic Zincs, ordinary, were done at 27s 6d" The last recorded sale was at 35s 9d, at the end of last March. Buyers of Portland Cements advanced to 35s 6d at the late call. In mining Golden Age, contributing, sold at l|d, Kuranuis at 2d, and Lucky Shots, contributing, at Is lOd. Saless of Occidental Una United, contributing, ranged from Is 3d in the morning to Is 5d and Is at noon. The recent sharp advance in Waihis was not main tained, and they dropped back to a sale at 22s 6d at the late call More were available at that figure, buyers 22s 4d.
