daylight saying. HOUSE PASSES BILL. 'FATE RESTS WITH COUNCIL. A MAJORITY EXPECTED. TWO LONG DISCUSSIONS. fBY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON. Thursday Having sat up all night to put Mr. T. K. Sidey's Summer Time Bill through committee the House of Representatives resumed at 2.30 this afternoon to proceed with the other business of the country. Little progress was made, however The afternoon was devotedj to a discus sion of further departmental reports, and in the evening the third reading was commenced of Mr Sidey's bill After a lengthy discussion the third reading was agreed to by 25 votes to 14 and the bill was passed. • The House rose at 12.50 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. The fate of the Summer Time Bill is again thrown on the Legislative Council, which last year prevented its becoming law on the casting vote of the Speaker, Sir Walter Carncross, who, when he found that the Council was equally divided on the question, gave his casting vote for the maintenance of the status quo. The supporters of the bill are confident that this year the Council will pass the bill. The taxation bills were passed by the Legislative Council to-day. The Council read a first time the Marriage Amendment Bill, which was passed by the HoOse of Representatives in the early hours of this morning.
