RECOGNITION OF MERIT.
THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE. GOLD MEDALS SUGGESTED. Pupils of the Seddon Memorial Technical College who produce work of exceptional merit should be awarded gold medals to assist them in obtaining employment, in the opinion of Mr. G. J. Park, principal of the college. Mr. Park submitted a report on the subject at a meetmg of tho Board of Managers yesterday. "Prizes should be awarded in carpentry and joinery, cabsreim&king, engineer in;, painting, decorating, printing, and plumbing said Mr. Park. "The medals could be called, 'The Seddon Memorial Medals, to be offered (or work considered by special judges to be the most meritorious in dach clas.'. The medals will act as special recommendation!! to tho employera who will know if the boy :s expert in his trade." Mr H. S. W King, chairman: They are awarded certificates now. Mr. Park: The medals would be more effective and would prevent a boy whose efficiency is above the average from being unemployed. The board decided to refer the suggestion to the executive which will report at the next meeting
