BIBLE OVER 200 YEARS OLD.
VALUABLE FAMILY HEIRLOOM A family Bible, published in 1719, now in the possession of Mrs. Margaret Patrick, of Avonside, Christchurch, has been handed down through many generations of the family, and constitutes a valued heirloom. The number of Bibles in the Dominion that are older than Mrs. Patrick's might be counted on the fingers of one hand. Very few have the same interest attached to them. The volume is ink a remarkably good state of preservation. It is apparent thai from time to time it has had its back re-covered, and at present it is reinforced there with a cloth binding. The pages are all intact with the exception of a few at the beginning. The paper, now yellow and stained with age, is still as strong as when the book first came from the press. The book derives added interest from the fact that it has been in the same family from the beginning and has been handed down from generation to generation as an heirloom. In it have beea recorded many of the dates in the history of the family.
