DRAINAGE OF LAND. REQUESTS MADE BY SETTLERS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TE A.ROHA. Monday. A deputation from the Chudleigh Estate, consisting of Messrs. Sutton and Hill, wailed on the Hungahunga Drainage Board in reference to a drain to section 13, Chudleigh. Mr. Sutton said he had to drain through Mr. Body's section. Mr. Hill and Mr. Body had been doing their best to keep the drain open but found it impossible. , , The chairman said the board had no money for new work and if the undertaking was any size a loan would be required. t . , • A suggestion that a special rating area be formed met with the approval of the deputation. At a meeting of the Waitoa Drainage Board Mr. O'Donoghue complained that while he paid £2O a year as drainage rates on a section owned by his wife, the drain to that property had not been cleaned. He said the board was collecting the money and giving no benefitAfter hearing the complaint the board decided that Mr. O'Donoghue received plenty of relief from. other outlets that touched the property and decided to take no action. At a meeting of the Thames-Valley A., P. and H. Association on Saturday appreciative reference was made by Mr. J. D. Mackay to the services of the late president, Mr. A. A. .Wagstaff, and the meeting adjourned for a week as a mark of respect,..
At a meeting of the Hungahunga Drainage Board Mr. W. Hallett tendered his resignation as a member of that body, on account of ill-health. Members expressed regret that Mr. Halletl's health necessitated such a step.
