CRICKET IN ENGLAND. " MARYLEBONE BEATS KENT. (Received September 11. 8.80 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. LONDON, Sept. 10. There was no play yesterday in the cricket match, Champion County v. the Best of England, owing to rain. In the match Marylebone v. Kent the former in their first innings made 343 runs (Hendren 119). Wright took six wickets for 116. The second innings yielded 275 for eight wickets declared (Hendren 102, Hearne 100). Kent in their first innings made 223 (Wbolley, not out, 141). Durston took eight wickets for' 110. The second innings score was 207 (Ames 55, Chapman 60). Durston took five wickets for 64. Marylebone won by 188 runs. NURMX MAY RETIRE. QUARREL AND ITS SEQUEL. Nurmi's refusal to join the Finnish team against Sweden, because he would compete against Eklof, with whom he recently quarrelled, is likely to lead to his retirement. He denies the Finnish federation's right to decide when he shall run. WRESTLING IN MELBOURNE. THYE DEFEATS KILLONIS. (Received September 11. 6.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z MELBOURNE, Sept. 11. At the Melbourne Stadium last evening in a wrestling bout, Thye beat Killonis by one fall to nil in eight rounds. BOXING IN SYDNEY. SQUIRES AND WILLIAMS DRAW. (Received September 11, 6.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z., _ SYDNEY, Sept. 11. At the Sydney Stadium., last evening a fierce and brilliantly fought 15-rounds bout between Johnny Squires and "Sunny" Jim Williams resulted in a draw. Both men took a lot' of punishment.
