A WHALE ON THE WIRE.
Telegraphic communication between the United Jjtates and Alaska was interrupted a few weeks ago, and a cable ship sent to investigate discovered a twentyton whale attached to the twisted and broken strands of the cable. The whale had broken the submarine telegraph line at a depth of 600 fathoms!
