AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE ! ACTIVITY IN BANk SHARES. A husy day was experienced on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, arid among bank shares particularly there was marked activity. Quotations for Government and local body Securities tame freely. War Loans, 1939, 4£ p.c., which sold at the end of July at £96 15s, changed hands at £96 7s 6d. •At the late call Inscribed Stocks, 1933,. quoted at £IOO 12s 6d, and £IOO 10s, without business resulting. Auckland Hai'bour Boards, 5| p.c., sold at £IOO 10s, a decline of £1 compared with the last sale a month ago. In banks business was done in Australasias at £l4 14s at both first and last calls. Commercials of Australia sold in the morning at 28s, and at noon at Id less. For Nationals of New Zealand £6 15s 9d was paid at noon, with further buyers at that figure. Bank of Now South Wales brought £43 16s, and NewZealands 58s 2d. In insurance 59s was offered for Standards, ex div., at tho noon call. In loan and agency Loan and Mercantiles came on the market at £95, buyers offering £92 10s. In shipping Devonport Steam Ferries changed hands at tne current rate of 23s 9d. A sale of Kanri Timbers at 24s 9d showed no change in value. Amuse' ment Parks which sold on Tuesday at 15s, were wanted at 15s 3d. Union Oil, Soap and Candles were again done at 41s 6d, and Whittome, Stevensons changed hands at 435. , : . In mining Lucky Shot contributing sold at 2s in the morning and Is 11a at noon. Business in WaihiS was done at 20s at noon and 20s 3d at the late call.
