JOINT FIRE BRIGADE.

NORTHCOTE - BIRKENHEAD. The proposal for a joint fire brigade for Northcote and Birkenhead was further discussed at a meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening. With regard to the request that Northcote should agree to a report by an expert being obtained on the scheme, the town clerk intimated the Northcote Council adhered to its former decision that ths report should include the utilisation of the existing-Northcote plant .and the capital and operating costs of any combined scheme. , - The Mayor, Mr. K. G. Skeates, said the cost of a report on the lines stipulated by Northcote would be -larger and the information nataraliv would be of great service to the Northcote Council. On his njotion it was lesolved that as Northcote liad enlarged the scope of the proposed report, the council was willing to enter into it. providing Northcote paid half the cost of the expert's report.
