RAILWAY STRIKERS.
TROUBLE IN QUEENSLAND. MEN DEFY THE GOVERNMENT. (Received August 31, 11.45 p.m.) A. and N.Z. BRISBANE, Aug. 31. The railway men employed in the southern sections of Queensland decided at a meeting to-day to support the men who are on strike in the northern section, and to carry on the strike until all the strikers are reinstated without loss of status. The men further intimated that they are not to be intimidated by the ultimatum issued by " the pseudo-Labour Government." A telegram from Melbourne says the executive of the Victorian branch of the Railway Union has resolved to support tho Queensland members in upholding unionism. The outlook this evening in connection with the strike is ominous. Australian Workers' Union held a meeting and decided that the Government's ultimatum meant that unionists would be forced to work for non-unionists. The meeting therefore decided to support the Railway Union in the fight. Apparently there is no hope of a settlement of the dispute.
