THE WAIRARAPA MATCH.
CHANGE IN LOCAL TEAM. E. MEYER NOT AVAILABLE. Mr. V. R. Meredith, selector to the Auckland Rugby Union, has been advised by E. Meyer that he is not available for the match against Wairarapa next Saturday. Meyer, who is on holidays, has gone out of town. The defection of Meyer has set the selector a task in filling the vacancy in the backs. Badeley's knee is still giving him trouble and it is very doubtful indeed if he will be able to play. It looks as though another five-eighths will have to be found, or Mr. Meredirth may prefer to move the present backs in and play Woods on the wing. The Wairarapa team will arrive in Auckland this morning. Its handsome win against the King Country yesterday with a considerably weakened team should enhance its prospects against Auckland on Saturday. W. Irvine, Q. Donald and J. Donald,"three All Blacks, and other players not so well-known, will strengthen very materially the side which takes the field at Eden Park. At present it looks as though the match mav be very even and interesting, as Meyer s defection will not make Auckland's 'task any easier. The names of the following referees will bo submitted to the manager of the Wairarapa team for control of the game:— M essrs. Meredith, Peace, Paull, Kronfcld and Rule.
