USE OF ELOCUTION.
VALUE TO BUSINESS MAN.
"Elocution in Business" formed the subject of an address given to the Auckland Advertising Club yesterday by Mr. l H. C. Borradale, of the Brisbane Broadcasting station, who is judge of the elocution section at the Auckland Competitions. The president, Mr. L. A. Eady, presided. Mr. Borradale urged that a training in elocution was a necessity to a business man because speech was to him what window dressing was to a draper. Everyone made short speeches every day, and if a business man could not speak well he could not display his goods to the best advantage. A knowledge of elocution gave a young man confidence when he went into business, and for that reason business men should make elocution part of the education of their sons. He paid a tribute to the work being accomplished at the competitions.
