NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
STREET IMPROVEMENT WORKS
The Northcote Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, presiding. The specifications for reconstruction of Belle Vue Avenue were approved, subject to suggested improved provision for water supply, including a larger main place of the present 3in. main. The engineer, Mr. A. Grevillo Walker, reported the contractors for reconstruction of Queen Street, had so far laid 5720 ft. of concrete kerbing and channelling. t Consideration ol a proposal to raise 10 per cent, additional on the £27,400 Queen Street paving loan was held ever until tenders for Belle Vue Avenue are raceived. Substitution of a 3ft. diameter storm-water pipe for the 2 ft. pipe, on portion of Denby Gully, from Richmond Avenue to the beach, ana duplication of 120 ft. of 2ft. pipe above the Richmond Avenue intersection were, authorised. The Ift. pifie from Lelle \no Avenue will discharge storm wa-tar into the 3ft. nipe in the gully below. The council decided to ad!.ere to its previous decision in regard to the suggestion for a combined fire brigade for Northcoto and Birkenhead, which stipulated tnat any report obtained should include utilisation of the present station and the capital arid operating charges of a joint brigait6 was agreed the Little Shoal Bay Reserve Committee should deal with the suggested loan proposal for improvements to the reserve.
