It was once contended that the quality of dairy products and particularly butter manufactured on the Hauraki Plains could not be high owing to the absence of good water supply and other factors, but under the management of Mr. H. E. Harvey, who did the pioneering work, and later under Mr. C. F. I' ostei, the Ngatea factory has gained a great reputation for quality. In 1926 and 1927 it came third for the Grand Championship of New Zealand. For the Auckland Provincial Championship, aggregate points prize, it came first. For the Open Championship of New Zealand, export box, first; and for the Auckland Provincial Championship Export Box, first.
In the class competitions for Box ex Grading Stores (March), it came third; and for box pats made by first assitsant, it came third. It also won Weddel Cup for highest average grade at the Auckland Grading stores, 1926-27
