LAWN TENNIS.

NEW COURTS AT PAPATOETOE An extraordinary general meeting of the Papatoetoe Tennis Club was held to consider taking over adjoining ground for the purpose of laying down three new courts. Mr. F. M. Waters presided over a good attendance of members.

It was reported the Town Board had come to satisfactory arrangements with the Education Board regarding a new area, which is at present being used ,on the acquired ground. It was decided that the ground should bo taken over and rental paid until such time as the club could afford to put down new courts, and that application should be made to the Town Board for the ground. Estimates were received for the construction of three new courts, and for the renovation of the existing six courts It was decided to renovate the present courts at an approximate cost of £6O. The laying of the new courts was left to the committee with power to act, providing the membership justified action.
