HOSPITAL BOARD.

THE HONORARY STAFF.

DESIRE FOR CO-OPERATION

The Auckland Hospital Board met yesterday, Mr. William Wallace presiding.

A letter from members of the honorary medical staff at the hospital intimated that at a recent meeting members of the staff expressed the desire for more active co-operation with the board in hospital matters. It was recommended that proposed structural alterations should be submitted to them for consideration before being finally adopted by the board.

Mr. Wallace said the board would be glad to have the closer co-operation of the honorary medical staff, especially in any building scheme. A letter from the Wellington Hospital Board intimated that the board was seeking to raise the salary of its matron from £550 to £575 a year and asking the Auckland Board's opinion on the matter. The letter was received, Mr Wallace remarking that the hospital boards' conference had several times considered the salary, and fixed it at £350. \ Dr. W Gilmour, pathologist at the hospital, was granted nine months' leave of absence on full pay. Suggested improvements for lightening the work of nurses, made by Mr. C. 0. Butler, were referred to a committee for a report.
