OBITUARY.
MR. JOHN NODDER. Mr. John Nodder, an early pioneer of Thames and Taranaki, died at Papatoetoe on Monday, at the age of 92. Mr. Nodder was born in Sheffield, England, in 1836 and was educated at the Lancastrian School. After serving an apprenticeship in the file trade lie came to Auckland in the ship Caduceus in 1858. He was employed in road-making at Thames and then went to Wellington and subsequently to Nelson where he and three other men drove the first sheep from Awatere Valley to the head of the Grey River. In 1864 he set out for Auckland but while ashore at New Plymouth was requisitioned for service in the Maori War. He was engaged in the Taranaki Bush Rangers in which he served until 1869 and be came a sergeant, being one of those detailed to bring in the bodies of the victims of the White Cliffs massacre. At this time he received the New Zealand war medal. After* the war Mr. Nodder settled at Thames and founded a bookseller's business which he conducted for 45 vears. He then retired and lived at Papatoetoe. He was * prominent temperance worker and Rechabite and among other offices held the position of Past District Chief Ruler of No. 1 District of the Order for 20 vears. Mr. Nodder married Miss Howell, of New Plymouth, in 1867. There are four sons and three daughters, Mr. Joe Nodder, Mr. Harry Nodder and Mr. Len Nodder, of Auckland, and Mr. Jack Nodder, of New Plymouth, and Mrs. IL Street, of Auckland, Mr. W. Everett, of Papatoetoe, and Mrs. Walcott, of California. i
MRS. MARY M. MULLINS. Tha death has occurred of Mrs. Mary Milner Slullins, of Ardmore, at the age of 83. Mrs. Mullins was born in Auckland in 1845, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bell, in 1870 she was married to Mr. John Henry Mullins at, St Mary's Church, and lived in Auckland until' 1887. The family then removed to Ardmore, and took up a farm upon which -- Mrs. Mullins had lived since. She leaves one son and five daughters, Mr. Fred. MR ADAM JACKSON

The death has occurred at his residence at Springlands of Mr. Adam Watson Jackson, a settlei held in the very highest esteem. Mr. Jackson was born at Nelson in September," 1851, being the second son of Mr. Adam Jackson, » pioneer settler, who arrived at Nelson in the barque Phcvebe, in 1843- In' the "fifties," when the Wairau was opened for settlement, Mr. Adam Jackson took up a section in the Old Renwick Road. In 1878 Mr. A. W Jackson took over the property. He was one of Marlborough's leading agriculturists, and was for many years a valued member of the executive of the Blenheim branch of the Farmers' Cnions, and wa3 one'of the original members of the provincial executiv-a of the union. In addition to being for a long period a member of the Maryborough Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Mr. Jackson took a worthy share in local government work as a member of the Omaka Road Board and the River Board. Mr. Jockson was associated with the foundation of the "Marlborough Herald, and was for some time its chairman or directors. He was greatly interested in the Methodist Church, in which he was a prominent figure. In 1881 he married Miss Edith Tory, of Palnferston _ North, and brought up a large family, of whom there are eight surviving.
MR. S. G. RADFORD

WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
The death has occurred at Wellington of Mr. Spencer George Radford-, head of the furnishing firm of Messrs. Radforo and Company, in his 68th year. Mr. Radford, who was one of Wellington's bestknown business men and a generous donor to charitable objects, was horn in London. He leaves a widow, four sons and a daughter.
