AUCKLAND HOSPITAL STAFF
PRESENTATIONS BY BOARD
Presentations to nurses at the Auckland Hospital who had passed recent examinations for nurses were made at the meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday. Gold medals were awarded to Nurses M. Long and M. Gilchrist, and prizes of books were given to Nurses D. A. Eskngge and M. Hay ward. Tn making the presentations, Mr. William Wallace, the chairman, referred to the high standard set by the board's nurses. Nurses Long and Gilchrist had giincd 86 per cent, of possible marks, and Nurses Eskrigge and Hayward 83 per cent. Nurse Long had been made a sister at the hospital.
" We look upon nursing as one of the noblest works a girl can take up," said Mr. Wallace. " Nurses must have love and sympathy for their patients, and must bo prepared to. make sacrifices."
