LONG-DISTANCE SWIM.
FINN CLAIMS RECORD. FEAT IN LAKE LADOGA. (Received August 12. 11.45 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. HELSINGFORS, Aug. 12. A Finnish railwayman named Hamaelaeninen claims to have established a world's record for long-distance swimming. He says ho swam 42 kilometres (about 26 miles) in 26 hours 15 minutes in Lake Ladoga, near Leningrad. He was accompanied by a motor-boat.
