OLD THING ON A SWING.
High up on a swing There sat an Old Thing, With a high-steeple hat and a feather, And a long-handled broom, Like a feathery plume, For sweeping the sky in bad weather. A cat sat and spied her,, And begged her to grant him that boon; For his coat soft as silk ' He wanted some milk From the cow that jumped over the moon. He made a wild spring, But that funny Old Thing Swung so high that her feet struck a planet, And the frightened Tom Cat Fell as flat as a mat, Somewhere in the Island of Thanet.
