MORRINSVILLE CO-OPERATIVE

GREAT INCREASE IN OUTPUT. DIVIDEND OF 5f PER CEINT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J HAMILTON, Friday. The annual meeting of the Morrinsville Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., was held to-day, Mr. J. E, Leeson presiding over an attendance of 72 shareholders. In moving the adoption of the annual report, the chairman said the last season had been the most favourable he had known in his 24 years' experience of dairying in the Morrinsville district. The company had manufactured 757 tons of butter, an increaso of 40 per cent, over the output in the previous season. Mr. Leeson said he knew of no other company that had shown such a remarkable increase during the last year. The price, unfortunately, had been low and this was attributed to the operations of the Control Board. The total pay-out to suppliers would be 16.139 d per lb. butterfat.

The prospects for the corning season were good and several offers for tho company's output had been received. None had been accepted yet. Manufacturing costs had been reduced from 2.06 d to 1.53 d, and a great improvement had been shown in the quality of the product. The id premium paid ior superfine butter represented £2600 to tho suppliers and was a great inducement to farmers to take care of their cream. Tlu installation of a pasteuriser was largely responsible for the improvement shown and the suppliers had responded well to tho appeal made by the directors to send in bettor quality crenm. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs. J. H. Gaddes, Forbes, West and B. J. Pirrit were re-elected directors. A dividend of 5£ per cent, on the paid up share capital was declared.

A shareholder asked the chairman if there was any truth in the rumour that the Morrinsville Company was joining up with Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd. Mr. Leeson said there was no truth in the rumour. The Morrinsville Company had decided to sell its butter through the old channels.

MANUFACTURE OF CHEESE. TATUA COMPANY'S RECORD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J MORRINSVILLE. Friday. The report to be presented at the annual meeting of'suppliers of the Ttaua (Tatuanui) Dairy Co. states that during the year 939 tons of cheese were manufactured, representing an increase of 12 per cent, on last season's output, and constituting a. record for the factory. It is believed the year's output was the largest, quantity of cheese produced under one roof in the Dominion. A supplementary payment oi £1930 13s 6d was made on June 27, 1927, thus making an advance payment for the season of Is 2 l-sd. Upon receipt of the realisations and subject to the season s cheese averaging the amount as estimated by the Dairy Control Board, the directors' propose" making a further payment to suppliers. It is recommended that a dividend of o per cent be made on paid-up capital. Including this payment, the total payment for the season will be Is 4d. The retiring directors are Messrs. H. L. Wilton, W. The annual meeting of the Raetihi Cooperative Dairy Co. was held yesterday, Mr. A. B. Harris presiding over a large attendance of shareholders and suppliers The chairman said that considering the adverse conditions prevailing during the past season, the company had had a fairly successful period. The increase of output over the previous season was a.U per cent. The monthly advances to suppliers had averaged Is Id, and it w.fs recommended to pay a bonus of l,d per lb on all butter-fat supplied for the season.
