Jack Delanev, a challenger for the title of heavy-weight boxing champion of the world, defeated Paolino Uzcudun, of Spain, through a foul in the seventh round of a match of 15 rounds. SUCCESS OF NEW ZEALANDERS. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Aug. 12. The New Zealand hockey team has arrived in Sydney. The manager, Mr. Williamson, says the men are in perfeet physical condition and he has every confidence in them. He is surprised at the growth of hockey in this country, but thinks there is a little too much Rugby in Victorian hockey. Players in the southern State, he savs, are inclined to use their weight. The New Zealand team has so far plaved seven games in Australia and has won six and drawn one. It has scored 61 goals and 5 goals have been scored against it The principal New Zealand scorers are Bell (16), Watts (14), Seccombe (8), and Lusty (6). Malrony, Fletcher, Hore, Soper and Lusty are the most outstanding plavers. The New Zealand - team lor tomorrow against New South Wales is:—Goal, Fletcher; backs, Mahony, Soper; halves, Cole, Morris. Hore: forwards, Lusty, Seccombe, Bell, Watts, Ed son. . .
The Lord Mayor tendered a civic reception to the New Zealanders in the Town Hall to-day.
