A letter was received from the district engineer stating that the Main Highways Board regretted it was unable to declare any of the new highways recommended by tlie No. 3 Highways Council. This referred lo the following roads:—National Park to Taupo, Opotiki to East Cape and Rotorua to Tauranga direct. The engineei asked for a reply as to the amount the council was contributing toward the cost of Dansey's Road Bridge The clerk was instructed to state that (he council hat] promised to subscribe £IOOO and was not liable for anything further. A letter was received from Mr. F. Can Rollett suggesting that the council consider the question of providing a road along the lake, front, from the Utahina Stream to Kawaka Point.
