REPAIRS AT WELLINGTON.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Monday. Repairs to the steamer Haggersgate, which arrived at, Wellington late or Saturday night from New Plymouth and was berthed at the Thorndon breastwork yesterday morning, are likely to be rather lengthy. This steamer is usually employed in the Argentine service, but for the last few months she has been running in the Nauru Island-Auckland, New Plymouth phosphate service. She was on the point of leaving the wharf at New Plymouth recently when it was found th&t one of the boilers was leaking. On investigation further damage was discovered and it was decided to effect temporary repairs to enable the ship to come to Wellington. She is now here for the purpose of survey and overhaul to her boilers.
The survey is not yet finished and it will be some time before the extent of the repairs necessary is ascertained.
