NEW HYBRID TROUT.
Sir, —I have read with interest the article in a recent issue headed as above. Mr. D. Hope is not the first man to hybridise rainbow and brown trout. In 1903, in Warrington, Lanes., the town clerk, whose name I forget, who was a great pisciculturist, succeeded in hybridising the two species and named the resulting fish " salmo fariensis." Whether anybody did so before him I cannot say. Gajt Cavalier.
