PARSEE INITIATION.
CEREMONY AT WESTMINSTER.
FAMILY OF MR. SAKLATVALA.
(Received July 24. 5.5 p.m.)
A, and N.Z,
LONDON. July 23
The five children of tile Communist M P. for North Battersea, Mr. S. Saklatvala, were initiated to-day into the Parsee faith. The rites had only once before been performed in England. The ceremony took place at Caxton Hall, Westminster, in the presence of sonic of Mr. Saklatvala s co-religionists and Socialists.
His English wife said they were happy to redeem the pledge given to her late father-in-law that his grandchildren would be brought up within the fold. Prayers were chanted in Avesta, one of the dead Persian tongues. The ceremonies included branding the foreheads of the children with a thick red phosphorescent paste, and clothing them with sacred vests, which are never discarded by day or by night.:
